2nd Dan

Sticky hands kata (defending)

10 left handed throws

10 defences against right or left handed punches. (All punches to be indiscriminate, at full speed and power and totally unrehearsed).

10 Defences against left or right footed kicks. (All kicks to be indiscriminate, at full speed and power and totally unrehearsed).

Defence against attacks by 3-5 people.  This will test the student’s stances and positional sense against more than one attacker at once.

Demonstrate attacks with a stick (5)

Demonstrate attacks with a knife (5)

Defence against stick attacks (5)

Defence against attacks with a knife (5)

Demonstrate all left and right handed strikes to all parts of the body as identified by examiner

Demonstrate all left and right footed kicks to all parts of the body as identified by examiner

10 defences against combined attacks, ie: punch/punch, punch/kick, grab punch

10 one-handed techniques: 5 left handed, 5 right handed

North, south, east, west kata (Do we want this in?)

Demonstration of full power striking to a fully armoured opponent

8 defences incorporating attacks to 8 vulnerable parts of the body from at least 4 different types of attack of the student’s choosing

Kata of 10 locks using a stick

Defences against two attackers at once

Defences against knife attacks comprising 2 each from: down blow, up blow, thrust, slash

Defences against baton attacks comprising 2 each from: down blow, slash – out to in, slash – in to out taking baton & using against opponent.

10 Escapes from grabs whilst blindfolded

10 head techniques

5 Defences against three attackers at once

This will be of the students own devising and will need to be agreed in advance with the examiners.

The syllabus must be sufficiently challenging to be worthy of the award of the grade of 5th dan.

The syllabus will demonstrate a wide variety of skills including any of the following suggestions.
